American soldier and engineer noted for his discovery of the carborundum radio-signal detector.

An associate of Lee De Forest, Henry Dunwoody discovered in 1906 that the newly invented material silicon carbide (SiC) could be used as a solid-state detector of radio waves. His invention was patented in the UK on 23 March 1906.
